Oklahoma Disaster Relief: How You Can Help

May 22, 2013

Like so many of you, I watched the tragic storms unfold and saw the images of devastation in Oklahoma, and my heart broke for all the people who were affected. While the destruction is significant, it will be days before the community sees the full extent of the damage.

To assist with intermediate and long-term recovery efforts, please make a gift to the Oklahoma City Tornado Recovery Fund. Established at the Oklahoma City Community Foundation in May 1999, the fund will direct 100 percent of gifts to assist with the needs of those impacted by the storms. Contributions to the Fund may be sent to the Oklahoma City Community Foundation, P.O. Box 1146, Oklahoma City, OK, 73101-1146, or online at: www.occf.org/tornadorecoveryfund.

To provide immediate assistance to those impacted by the storm, please direct gifts to American Red Cross of Central Oklahoma and the Salvation Army of Central Oklahoma.

On a personal note – when our community struggled to come to grips with the tragic events of 9/11, our friends at the Oklahoma City Community Foundation lent their support as we established our Survivors’ Fund, walking us through the lessons they learned in the wake of the Oklahoma City bombing. We were touched by their help and friendship. Today, I ask you to lend them a hand when they need it – donate to the Oklahoma City Tornado Recovery Fund and help Oklahoma heal.

President, The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region
